Voisin Organique Restaurant & Lounge

We Chinese people have such a reputation for eating everything. This is deeply rooted in our history and culture. However, with a large number of food safety scandals, as well as epidemics like SARS and Coronavirus, Chinese people begin to concern more and more about the food. 

Not yet like in most of the Western countries, organic food is easily reachable. In China, buying and eating organic food can still be difficult. But the market and options are rising. The young generation, especially young white-collar workers, are changing their food habits toward increased quality natural and healthy food. 

Reopened in November 2019, Voisin Organique is a fine dining restaurant located in Shenzhen Guangdong, features a Chinese-French creative fusion cuisine. The restaurant, committed to the freshness and quality of the produce, grows organic fruits and vegetables in their own farm, offers the farm-to-table experience. And this reminds us of the French gastronomic restaurant Garance or the Danish Noma

The interior design of the restaurant is entrusted to the Shenzhen based design studio Various Associated. The total area is about 500 sqm, including three spaces: the lounge bar, the dining area and a 110 sqm huge kitchen. 

The restaurant is concealed by a double-height bronze facade. The six windows can be open and closed by shutters. At the low left corner of each shutter, there is a crystal ball like a bespoke convex lens, which brings light into the restaurant, also allows passengers outside to peek inside. 

Entering the restaurant, the ambience is earthy and gloomy, illuminated bu dim lights. In the lounge bar, the high ceiling has a deep gully, flowing out warm yellow light downwards. The surfaces of the ceiling and walls are finished with malt silver soil, which gives a metallic mineral illusion. The silver material, the red hue and the soft warm light create a quiet, cocoon and serene atmosphere. 

After passing through the corridor, there hides the fine dining area. In this dark hue dominated space, the deep red ceiling catches eyes, the cold white light comes from it. The striking red, the white shiny light, the black furniture and the rough walls produce a luxurious sensation. 

Various Associates envisioned a concept of valleys. The interior space was approached based on this concept of ”wandering in valleys”, indicating a free exploration in wild nature.
